Playlist Ownership Verification Requirements

To protect playlist data and ensure only legitimate owners can update information or add curator contacts, artist.tools requires proof of ownership for certain actions. This guide explains what proof is acceptable and how to submit it.

You'll need to contact support with verification proof to update playlist details, add contact information, or request changes to playlist data in our system.

When You Need to Verify Ownership

Ownership verification is required when you want to:

  • Add or update curator contact information for your playlist

  • Request updates to playlist data or quality flags

  • Dispute bot detection results for your playlist

  • Claim ownership of a playlist in our database

Acceptable Proof of Ownership

You need to provide clear evidence that you control the playlist and the Spotify account that owns it. Any of the following combinations will work:

Option 1: Mobile App Screenshots (Recommended)

Take screenshots from the Spotify mobile app showing:

  • The playlist page with your username visible as the owner

  • Edit controls visible (such as "Edit," "Add songs," or the three-dot menu showing edit/delete options)

  • The ability to rename or modify playlist details

Make sure the edit buttons are clearly visible in your screenshots. This proves you have control of the playlist, not just viewing access.

Option 2: Desktop App Screenshots

Provide screenshots from Spotify desktop showing:

  • The playlist on your profile with your account name displayed

  • Edit capabilities visible in the interface

  • Proof you're signed into the account (account menu or profile visible)

Option 3: Account Login Proof

Screenshots showing you're signed into the Spotify account that owns the playlist:

  • Account settings page showing the username/email

  • Your profile page with the playlist listed

  • Session evidence that matches the playlist owner's Spotify ID

How to Submit Verification

  1. Gather your proof screenshots using one of the options above

  2. Contact support through the artist.tools help center or app

  3. Include the full Spotify playlist URL (e.g., https://open.spotify.com/playlist/[playlist-id])

  4. Attach your proof screenshots showing ownership and edit access

  5. Explain what action you need (add contacts, update data, etc.)

Do not share your account password or login credentials. We only need screenshots showing you have access and control.

What Happens After Submission

The support team will manually review your proof. If your screenshots clearly show ownership and edit access, they'll approve your request and process the changes you requested. This typically happens within 1-2 business days.

If additional proof is needed, support will reach out with specific instructions.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Submitting screenshots without visible edit buttons or controls

  • Forgetting to include the playlist URL in your message

  • Only showing the public playlist view (anyone can see that)

  • Sending proof for the wrong Spotify account

  • Assuming there's an in-app claiming feature (all verification is manual through support)

The clearer and more complete your proof, the faster the verification process. Include multiple screenshots from different angles if possible.
