Editorial Pitch Generator

The Editorial Pitch Generator helps you write professional pitches to Spotify's editorial team in the format editors expect. It generates two AI-written pitch variations based on your song details and up to three editorial playlists you want to target.

This feature requires a paid plan: Artist Access, Industry Access, or Developer Access.

Why Editorial Pitches Matter

Spotify allows artists to pitch one unreleased song at a time to their editorial team through Spotify for Artists. If you pitch at least 7 days before your release date, your track is guaranteed placement in your followers' Release Radar playlists. Editorial placements can drive significant streaming activity and visibility.

Spotify editors receive thousands of pitches each week. The earlier you pitch, the more likely editors are to see and consider your submission. A well-crafted pitch that tells your story, explains your song's relevance, and mentions specific editorial playlists gives you the best chance of landing a placement.

The Three-Step Workflow

Step 1: Song Details

Start by telling the generator about your track. You'll need to provide:

  • Artist – Search and select your artist profile on Spotify

  • Song Name – The title of your upcoming release

  • Genres – Select at least 4 genres that describe your track. These help the generator match you with relevant editorial playlists.

  • Song description – Describe the mood, genre influences, and overall vibe

  • Why is this song relevant now? – Explain what makes this release timely or significant

  • Brief marketing plans – Outline your promotion strategy (social campaigns, live shows, PR, etc.)

  • Past highlights & traction (optional) – Notable stats like stream counts, playlist adds, viral moments, or touring wins that build editor confidence

Spotify's official guidance says "more detail gives your song a better chance." Include specific numbers and achievements where possible—editors want to see evidence that you can drive real engagement.

Step 2: Select Editorials

Next, choose up to 3 editorial playlists that match your track's style. The generator uses your genre selections to suggest relevant playlists. Click on a row to select or deselect a playlist.

For each playlist, you can see:

  • Follower count

  • Genre tags (if available)

  • A link to the playlist on Spotify

  • Audio preview (if available)

You must select at least one editorial playlist to generate a pitch. The maximum is 3 playlists—choose the ones most relevant to your sound and the story you're telling.

Step 3: Review & Save Pitch

The generator creates two pitch variations for you to review. Each variation is a complete pitch formatted for Spotify's editorial team.

You can:

  • Read both variations and choose the stronger one

  • Edit directly in the text area to refine wording or add details

  • Regenerate a variation if neither feels right

Once you're happy with a pitch, select it and click Save Pitch. Your pitch is now stored in your account.

After You Save: Submit to Spotify

The generator creates your pitch text, but you still need to submit it through Spotify for Artists:

  1. Log into Spotify for Artists

  2. Go to Music → Upcoming

  3. Select your unreleased track

  4. Paste your generated pitch into the appropriate fields

  5. Submit at least 7 days before your release date

You can edit your pitch in Spotify for Artists up to release day, but Spotify does not guarantee editors will see changes made after your initial submission.

Track Which Pitches Land

After your release goes live, you can mark any saved pitch as Landed on the pitch detail page. This helps you track which editorial placements worked and learn what approaches perform best.

To mark a pitch:

  1. Go to your Editorial Pitches list

  2. Open a saved pitch

  3. Click Mark as landed

A "Landed!" badge will appear on that pitch. You can unmark it later if needed.

Timing Your Releases

Spotify only allows one active pitch at a time. Once your pitched song goes live, you can pitch your next release. This creates a natural rhythm:

  • Schedule releases 4+ weeks in advance with your distributor so you can submit your pitch early

  • Space releases at least 4 weeks apart to avoid overlapping pitch windows—you want one release live before you start pitching the next

Once a song has gone live, it's no longer eligible for editorial pitching. Planning your release calendar around the one-pitch-at-a-time rule maximizes your editorial opportunities.

What Happens After You Pitch

If your track is selected for an editorial playlist:

  • Spotify will email you

  • You can see the placement in Music → Playlists in Spotify for Artists when your release goes live

If your track isn't selected, it may still be discovered later through algorithmic playlists like Discover Weekly or through listener engagement. Keep building your fanbase and promoting your music—editorial teams continue to discover tracks post-release.
